Alfred Thomas Fetter

April 20, 1927 - February 01, 2010

Melbourne Beach, FL

Alferd Thomas Fetter, 82, of Melbourne Beach, FL passed away February 1, 2010. He was born in Queens, NY on April 20, 1927. Al was a beloved husband, devoted father, and loyal friend. We will sorely miss his caring wisdom and cheerful smile.

His first job was at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and he joined the Army in 1945. He married and in 1955, moved his family of four to Long Island, NY where he had an electronics repair shop and later worked for HUYK Systems. He relocated to Melbourne in 1963, to work as an engineer at Harris Corp., from which he retired after 25 years.

He and his wife of 51 years / best friend Gloria moved to Melbourne Beach for their retirement in 1996, where they greatly enjoyed their home, nearby family and great neighbors. He loved traveling to tropical islands, but most of all, he loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria on February 10, 2000. Al is survived by his daughters Linda Haman (Indianlantic, FL) and Carol Fitzsimmons (Melbourne Beach, FL); five grandchildren Fletcher Fitzsimmons (Indianlantic, FL), Chelsea Haman (Dublin, GA), Beth Haman (Cocoa Beach, FL), Trevor Haman (Melbourne, FL), and Todd Haman (Indialantic, FL); three great grandchildren JT and Julia Traver, and Tyler Haman.

Arrangements entrusted to South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory Street, Melbourne, FL (321) 724-2222.

Placement, with his wife, will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
