Titusville

Michael Ralph Mastrianna, 86, passed away on Sunday January 31, 2010 at his home. The oldest of seven children, he was born in Waterbury, CT on April 28, 1923 to the late Ralph and Bertha Stocmann Mastrianna. He came to Brevard County from Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

He served over 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (Sgt. Mike). He is a World War II and Vietnam veteran who was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star. During his career he was stationed in Maryland, Morocco, California, Guam, New York and Florida and had worked with the Red Cross while in Korea.

. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, fishing, playing cards, and family gatherings. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Alena Weir Mastrianna who he married on September 1, 1951 at the Andrews Air Force Base Chapel in Maryland .

He is survived by his sons, Ralph Mastrianna and wife Debra, Hal Mastrianna, Tracy Mastrianna and Susan Donaldson, his daughter Michelle Young and husband Jim, and beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

If you met Mike, you liked him. If you got to know him, you were laughing. A lot. Mike enjoyed life and enjoyed people. He always had a joke or a story, even if they were not always new. He might not remember your name, but he would remember the nickname he gave you. His love of sports and the New York Yankees spread through the entire family. His grandchildren adored him, as he did them. His years of taking care of his beloved Alena touched all who witnessed it. His passing has left an empty place in our hearts, but as we think of him, a smile on our face.
