Carol J. Bates

December 25, 1941 - July 08, 2010

West Melbourne, FL

Carol Joan Bates, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home in West Melbourne, FL with her family by her side. Born in Utica, NY on December 25, 1941 to Frank and Sophie Kowalczyk, she was affectionately called “Christmas Carol”. She married Clarence Fred Bates in 1964, and raised their family in New York and Massachusetts before moving to Florida in 2001.

Carol enjoyed baking, ceramics, organizing and attending events in her community at Compass Pointe, and traveling with her husband. But there was nothing Carol loved more than taking care of her family and friends. She will forever be remembered for her amazing memory and never forgetting to send heartfelt birthday cards.

Carol will be dearly missed by her husband Fred, sons David and Ronald, grandchildren Brandon and Alec, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Pat Kowalczyk, as well as the rest of her devoted family and friends. We find comfort knowing she will be reunited with her parents and her son Fred, who lost his battle with leukemia in 1993.

Memorial donations may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care in her memory.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 10 at 2:30 pm at South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory St., Melbourne, FL.
