Eugene E. Bucklin

October 11, 1928 - July 11, 2010

Eugene E. Bucklin of Jamestown, NY and Melbourne, FL died on July 11, 2010. Mr. Bucklin was born in 1928 in Busti, NY and attended Lakewood High School. He was a graduate of the Penn State executive management program.

He served in the Army Security Agency during the Korean War. Mr. Bucklin began his career at Marlin Rockwell (now SKF Aerospace) in Jamestown in 1952 after his discharge from the Army. He served in many capacities during his 35 year tenure with the company, retiring in 1988 as the Division Manager of Manufacturing and Equipment Technology, during which period he traveled extensivily throughout Europe and Japan. Following his retirement, he was a consultant for the company for two years.

Gene was an avid golfer, playing the game for more than 70 years. He participated in the MRC Golf League, Maplehurst Golf League, and South Hills Senior League while living in Jamestown, and the Melbourne Men's Golf League in Florida.

Mr. Bucklin was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lou, who he married December 16, 1955; and his grandson David who passed away March 2, 2008.

He is survived by his children Leann (Bill) Love, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Bucklin, and Lisa (Mark Himes) Bergholtz all of Jamestown, Karen (Tim) Merchant of Kernersville, NC, and Laurie Bucklin of Ft. Pierce, FL. He has eight grandchildren, Paige and Casey Love, Dillon and Shane Bucklin of Jamestown, Brianna Singletary and Branden Eckholm of Kernersville, and Jasmine and Brittany Bucklin of Ft. Pierce. He also has three great grandchildren.. In addition, he is survived by his sister Arlene Labarbera, and brothers Wesley and Douglas Tibbetts.

Mr. Bucklin, who dearly loved his children, leaves them with these parting words :

Life has been wonderful
So Don't shed a tear
At this time of parting
I'll always be near
Through the cold winter nights and the warm summer days
I watched as you grew at school and at play
As I started my journey
God said to me
Use your time wisely
Be all you can be

Private family services will be held.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, memorials bay be made to the David Love Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Chautauqua Community Foundation.
